Welcome students and families,
This is my fifth year in Washington and I feel incredibly grateful for the amazing opportunity to teach at Woodinville High School! I spent the first eleven years of my teaching career in Los Angeles and am excited to now be living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest :) I am originally from London, Ontario, Canada but moved down to play college volleyball at McNeese State University in Louisiana while pursuing my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education. My original intention was to teach Social Studies but after moving to Los Angeles, I was given the opportunity to teach math and I haven't looked back since! I started my teaching career at Santa Monica High School where I taught for seven years before transitioning into a math specialist role with a charter school organization working directly with teachers and helping them grow as educators. I completed my Masters degree in Education at Loyola Marymount University in 2016 and in 2019, received my National Boards teacher certification. In addition, I'm one of the coaches in the Woodinville volleyball program. Go Falcons! I believe that every individual has the ability to learn mathematics, that there is no such thing as a "math person" and that through hard work and effort, anything is possible. I look forward to collaborating a lot this year to strengthen my teaching practice, trying out a lot of new strategies and ideas in the classroom and learning alongside my students. We will work together every step of the way to ensure that everyone reaches their potential. Feel free to reach out to me if you need anything or have any questions...I'm here to help! -- Mrs. Doughty (Mrs. Moffitt is my married name but I still use Doughty at work) |
